Unfortunately, sometimes the once gladly inked tattoo becomes boring or loses its meaning, and we would do anything to get rid of it. The best method to achieve this may be laser removal, though it is costly and can be painful. Thankfully, there are many alternate methods for concealing, or covering up old tattoos, relieving those who got unsatisfied with a past tattoo.
Why do people choose to cover up tattoos?
There are numerous reasons for removing an old tattoo. On most occasions, people get bored with the old tattoo, or simply lose the once existing connection to the meaning. Break-ups with a boyfriend or girlfriend are also among the top reasons, or the intensification of a poor or faded tattoo design.
Efficient Ways for tattoo cover up
There are some highly effective techniques to make your past tattoo fade or even disappear. We can differentiate between temporary or more permanent solutions. If you are looking for temporary concealment, consider the following options:
Applying makeup:
1. Concealer: applying a concealer can prove to be the best solution when you intend to hide your tattoo for an occasion. If you happen to have two shades, it's best to use them both. Firstly, put on the lightest shade; blend it well into the surrounding area, then repeat the process with the darker shades.
2. Powder: apply powder on tattoos with a pad is possible, though a brush will work, too.
3. Foundation: use foundation the same way as the concealer, and use your fingertips to blend it in well for the best control.
For a more permanent cover up, try the following techniques:
Applying tattoo-removing cosmetics: Results may vary trying out different chemicals on the skin for tattoo removing, and most of the time they will result only in the partial fading of the tat. Tat B Gone and Tattoo-Off are example products, which should be used with due foresight. Also, injecting saline into the skin might be a solution, and the results vary from person to person - at least you can give it a try, as it won't do any harm.
Covering up with a new tattoo: In my opinion this is the best method of getting rid of an old tattoo, in case you don't mind getting a new one as replacement. A skilled tattoo artist can tattoo a new design on your old one that the old will not be recognized at all. There are other ways of covering up with tattoos, like using white ink, or filling up a partial tattoo with vivid colors - this all will fade pre-existing letters and other asymmetrical elements. Using flowers as a replacement design is also a good idea, because flowers can be shaped to fit to any asymmetrical or symmetrical design.
Now that you know some proven methods of tattoo removal without laser, you can consider which one fits you best, and contact a professional tattoo artist, or start to ready your makeup in the comfort of your home.
